When you have Dodd, Schammer and Murphy in the team it is always going to be ugly.
Grover trying to stand Buddy. No one to go with Rioli. No ruckman at all. No KPP up forward. Ruffles does a knee in the first quarter.
But yeah kids like son son Walters, Roberton, Bollenhagen and Crichton give me wood. Let alone the ones who are injured or "generally sore:D"
And they have shown courage in the contest and haven't given up. Even though the scoreline says otherwise.
And fuck all the dickheads on the main board who reckon that we are disrespecting the AFL brand and our own club.
They would do exactly the same.

Cousins reckons he is still a chance to play next week, probably should just play him on one leg just to give him a send off.

There is very little b/w Collingwood & Geelong. I'd have Geelong slight favorites.
We struggled in the Melbourne game. Should have lost it, showed character not to lose it. If you've ever participated in a game where little went right & you then cameback to fight it out & get a positive result, you would realize what intangables you gain out of it. Your response indicates you lack this feel.
After that, we went on to win 9 games on end.

Jurrah probably takes those marks every week, he has that freak spring that only the black fellas have. Similar to that mark Sampi took a few years ago.
Goddard's mark was technically better, timed his run and leap to perfection and was a classic high flyer. Reminiscent of the late great Trevor Barker.
Not much in it though, both were sensational marks.

Great point.:thumbsu:
Add to the fact that Goddard is also 30-40 kg's(?) heavier and hardly a spring heeled jack and the comparison gets clearer.
Both were, indeed, great marks, but hardly the greatest ever.

I've seen Goddard take a few high flyers, especially in his early days. Has a good leap on him for a white boy.
I think the main reason he took that mark yesterday was that Jack Riewoldt told him he was going to take mark of the year on him when he was filling the hole in front of him in defence. Goddard thought he'd just show him how it was done.:D

It occured to me on the weekend that Paul Roos has turned Mr Versatile into a tagger freeing kieren jack from being our primary tagger to our chief play maker with hanners.
Thank you Rhycey for sacrificing your game for the team. Since he has played major stopping roles on the oppositions playmaker we have found form again and we are finally seeing jack as the player we all knew he was rather than a tagger.

I reckon you'd be mad to fight it. Two weeks for that is a pretty good result, misses the first final but you'll have him back for a prelim or GF if you make it.
If you challenge, lose and get the 3 weeks that would make it pretty hard for him to come back.

I'm telling you if you guys ever when a flag don't expect any kind of respect your way. For years pre 2005 i thought winning a flag would put an end to the taunts, the stupidity and the lack of respect from the plethora of morons who call melbourne home.
Nope nothing.
It's become worst due to jealousy and it's been made clear to me that no interstate side will ever be respected in melbourne, the apparent home of football.
Hence why i hate so much. I really fucken hate priktoran football fans. I was so innocent and naive when i first moved to melbourne in regards to the priktorian fan. How times have changed.

It's pathetic. A draw shoudl be fair and not biased or based on how some shitty fucken poor club with a handful of supporters can maximise their revenue.
Collingwood should be fucken drawn to play at skilled regardless. I don't care of geelong requested the MCG because it makes perfect buisness sense. If thats the case then the AFL should come out and just admit it..rather than play charades and pour spin.
Collingwood havent played geelong at skilled since 1993..i mean fucken hell!
And when do they play in tassie???
This would be a fair draw.
week 1
Hawks vs Pies in tassie
week 2
Freo Vs Pies at subi
week 3
Blues Vs Pies at MCG
week 4
Pies Vs Lions at the gabba
I can see the faces of the pie fans now...the hun will call for a summit into why vic clubs get an unfair draw etc etc.

And it become worst becasue teams who havent got the personal to play that sort of footy have been trying it and it made footy become predicable stale
and boring.
And rushing behinds isnt a noble way to win a flag, yet nothing ever is mentioned about it.
Imagine had freo tried using this tactic to win a flag..as the guidos say "ohmygood"

Not many flags are won by being noble
In the good old days you would try and cripple your opponent to win
Clever tactic we where the best in the league for scoring from a behind and exploited it(it was a legal tactic since the dawn of time)
Cats kicked a few points from being driven wide so it wasn't all our doing

At the end of the day a flag is won using methods within the rules to your clubs best advantage.
The point i am making is winning a flag should be respected.
If anything carlton and essendons flags in the 90s should have a huge * next to them. But it is not mentioned.

Dumb bitch never once mentioned injuries, kids who have played every game this year, travel fatigue or 6 day turnarounds enforced by the AFL.
Like Harvey said, we aren't in this to please everybody else. So they can all go fuck themselves.
I reckon Freo did the right thing. They certainly will be the fresher team this week and should beat Carlton, have avoided 7-8 of their better players travelling and possibly being injured, etc. And I agree, the media have been on this like stink on shit for reasons that are beyond my comprehension, as there are certainly injuries and tiredness factors to consider.
The only down side is that some players play better when they have that continuity of playing and routine, and this may bite you on the arse this week, but I reckon if it was my team I would agree 100% with what they did.

How about if Daney baby had to play a full qrt of footy..thats right not being interchanged every second minute? But you know what they gotta do what they gotta do to win a flag i suppose and if having the afl afford you so many luxaries, then so be it!

That has nothing to do with Collingwood & it's draw.
That is the AFL's issue having only 2 Stadiums in Victoria.
If Collingwood didn't play the amount of games they do at the MCG, Sydney & their interstate cousins would be unable to host finals interstate at varying stages in the finals. You need to go back to the books.

Meanwhile Collingwood get another 7 day break playing their 7th game in a row at the MCG. Yet their supporters will still tell you what a tough draw they have this year.

what fucken hard draw? Seriosly what fucken hard draw? You play a shitty fucken style that relies on HEAVY rotations which allows your players to be fresh, which is an added bonus when you only have to travel 500 meters down the fucken road in a comfy car no less after a game for recovery after a hard slog.
Oh thats a fucken hard draw. Yeah play the hard teams but have it easy when it comes to recovery.
So you played geelong a few times..ok play geelong and a few other top 4 teams and then have to travel by plane for a few hours which affords you a day behind recovery.
Not only that lets give them an extra day by playing every second week on a friday!

The Collingwood whinging about our draw shows that Simpletons exist here.
In the 90's, the MCC had a contract with the AFL that had a stipulation that at least 1 PF be played at MCG & 1 final / per week regardless of who was playing. This saw the farce of West Coast hosting a final against Essendon at the MCG.
When Collingwood signed their deal with the MCC, the AFL asked the MCC if there was any way that they could get out of this contract. The MCC asked for hosting more Collingwood games & as a result, interstate clubs could rightfully host finals/PF's at their home ground. The idiots who whinge about our draw are so stupid they can't even take in this information.
It's a shame we can't play 22 Home & Away games in Sydney against Sydney. We wouldn't lose a game. Ditto for Adelaide at AAMI, ditto for Port Adelaide at AAMI, ditto for WC at Subiaco, etc, etc, you get the fcuking gist.
HughDunit
24th August 2010, 14:19
No i am saying that a combination of a skewed favourable draw and a game plan which is based around heavy rotations makes your recovery process so much easier than an interstate side.
Even Sydney have to come to melbourne a few days earlier to prepare..and its only a 45 minute flight. Flying prolongs recovery most times.

We're in Adelaide this week and still do our fair share of travel. Almost every year we travel to Perth and Adelaide twice, whereas the Pies would be lucky to go there once a year.
I understand that Collingwood gets so many MCG games due to their drawpower but it still gives you an armchair ride regardless of the opposition you play. The fact that the finals are mostly played at the MCG has to give you an advantage over teams that rarely play there.

I don't disagree.
It's definitely a disadvantage for interstate teams.
Mind you, you also have a huge home ground advantage in nearly half your games, something that Victorian teams don't get to the same extent (Obviously teams like Melbourne and Collingwood play the MCG better, and the Saints and Doggies are much better at Etihad - but it also varies depending on who they're playing against).
I'd say the interstate teams in WA probably have it the worst, because of the two derbies, and the fact Subi is similar in size to the G.
The Adelaide teams are next off the rank because of their derbies, but AAMI gives them a great advantage against non-SA because of its awkward dimensions.
Sydney and Brisbane probably next, they don't have derbies, and gain a significant advantage playing at the Gabba/SCG respectively.
Likewise, out of all teams, I'd say Geelong have it the best because they get the combination of very little travel combined with a distinct home ground advantage. Dees and Pies don't have it as good as some people think, because the G is a ground that is a great leveler (nearly every good game in any given season is played at the G in my experience). But obviously the pies get a pretty decent draw as far as travel goes (but on the other hand, they're awesome playing interstate anyway).
There are definitely pros and cons to both sides. Sydney wouldn't have been as strong this past decade without the SCG, but they might have won more than one flag if they didn't have to travel so much. Probably why they seem to have such a mature team full of experienced bodies, because they can handle the travel a bit better.

We hardly play at the SCG no more only a handful of games. We have to play on a cow paddock which is homebush, which takes a lot out of the players. All swans players have mentioned how they are sore after a game at homebush than when they play at the scg.

Because in 2003 we got 73k at a swans vs pies and the AFL was $educed into thinking this was a blockbuster game.

Swans fans are maaad at this and have started voting with their feet..tats not our home ground. If I recall correctly (redundant question, I definitely DO recall correctly), Knights was given the job because he believed he could win a flag with that team.
Hardwick was turned down because he wanted to rebuild, starting with trading away some old stalwarts that still had currency.
Imagine where Essendon would be right now had they taken Hardwick instead...

That is the big question. He has been good for us so far (by no means getting ahead of myself) as he come in, told the club how it was and how he wants to fix it and they accepted this. I think one of the issues at Essendon is that they have stupidly high expectations of their list and when they get let down by the players the coach cops it in the rear.

So in hindsight - how much do you wish you'd taken Hardwick instead?
If I recall correctly (redundant question, I definitely DO recall correctly), Knights was given the job because he believed he could win a flag with that team.
Hardwick was turned down because he wanted to rebuild, starting with trading away some old stalwarts that still had currency.
Imagine where Essendon would be right now had they taken Hardwick instead...
rJ, you're preaching to the converted matey.
Would have wanted Hardwick, Harvey, Williams, Thompson, fucking ANYONE before Knights.
Had 2 senior roles at Port Adelaide Magpies and Bendigo Bombers prior to getting the gig at Essendon, both were spectacular failures (something like a 25% winning record overall).
Piss in enough pockets during a jerb interview, and you are normally successful...

Essendon's biggest issue is that there is a culture at that club of not spending coin. They still have a culture from the 40's of stockpiling cash & are tighter than a fishes arse. I've been told that Hird was signed, seal & delievered last week but was asking for as much as Malthouse. Only a matter of time.

What you say is true. But Knights couldn't coach a cockroach to eat shit.
Surprised that someone hasn't burnt H2F on the Bay, because he was a very strong advocate of Knights when he first started.;)

Yeah, good point, but we played finals last year*. Expectations were high based on last year's performance. Plus, as rJ reminded everyone, Knights himself talked up these high expectations when going for the job.
Injuries to key players haven't helped, but when the coach overlooks players such as Howlett (early on) and Houli for speds like Hank Slattery and Dyson

I agree the bombers come across as a very conservative club that still runs by the moral code of the 40's and 50s.
For some reason everytime i think of an essendon gala event i think of an old hall somewhere near esssendon filled with boring old farts recounting the days of coleman and reynodls.

Essendon's conservative culture stems back to it's Church of England roots. They have clash to splash, enough to fund the buyout of the bowls club or even fund a new facility at Essendon Airport. Instead they won't move unless the Govt. funds it.
They make the copious amount of Saint Kilda fans who are jewish & live in Caulfield & it's surrounds seem like big spenders.

Paul Bevan, Sydney Swans, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence against Ryan Griffen, Western Bulldogs, during the second quarter of the round 21 match between the Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs, played at the SCG on Saturday August 21, 2010.
In summary, due to a five-year good record he can accept a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record with an early plea.
The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of three activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing five-year good record, reducing the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 70.31 points towards his future record.

Just on the Freo thingy - I have no issue with what they've done. It might fuck them up, but not doing it probably would have anyway. They just should have 'hidden' it a little better rather than saying every player is out with soreness - that just didn't help at all. Could have said a few minor injuries like 'corked thigh' or 'calf' or 'groin' or whatever- it wouldn't have drawn as much attention. The 'controversy' (media beat up) won't help them either - distracting.

Shaun Grigg really is a sorrowful excuse for an AFL player, he reallty is.
Of course of the Carlton board on BigFarty you get howled down if don't think he is a champion and the future of the Carlton Football Club.

Carlton are learning that when it comes to the crunch, small forwards know nothing of the crunch.

Bring them back next week please.:mad:
We had the endeavour but lacked polish and match fitness.
Bring them back.
Actually bring anyone in the bottom 4 back.*
* except Hawthorn unless Tarrant is back.

Well done to Freo for earning a home (grand) final.
Just a pity that the reward for winning it is to be smashed shitless by whoever loses one of the QFs.

How is Mitch Robinson playing AFL footy? Fucking terrible. Kade Simpson has pretty poor foot skills too in my opinion.

Yes very wise with your * there
They'd smash the shit out of you guys, Tarrant or no Tarrant.
Pretty fucked as well that the washed up spud who you guys did very well to turn into what you believe is the Hawthorn killer is fucking off in a couple of weeks. What will you have to take for him? Pick 26 or something??
Pretty fucking unfair but no one will give a fuck over east coz this is the first time it's ever happened to you guys....all the others have been self inflicted wounds so you were bound to cop one eventually. Shit happens! The key is, it doesn't hurt as much when you haven't mauled yourself constantly! :thumbsu:
We'll give you Simon Buckley and an assortment of touch up paint to cover the colour of all major makes of cars for Tarrant and another random homesick young player!
Deal?

He has got presence and he fires up and has a go (according to the cockhead commentators:rolleyes: )
But I guess when you are led by a robot with the personality of the host of an English rose garden doco and a squib who lets guys playing in the B's root his missus, + you have a bunch of absolute fucking lightweights down back as well as a group of small fair weather forwards who completely go missing when they can't snap goals from the pocket like they are bare foot and back at Palmerstone, some ugly cuunt with a shaved ranga head who gets in the faces of the other team and runs around like he is Davey from Romper Stomper is quite appealing!
If you don't have any genuinely tough players in your team then you have to take what you can get and a loyal desperate dumb nutter fuck who'd strangle Jennie Pratt in bed at 3 in the morning if Ratts asked him to and then go back at 4 and fuck her lifeless body leaving ranga pubes everywhere, well he could be a handy option sometime!
Be it knocking cuunts out in a prelim if they ever get there, taking the rap for a quality players crime, or fulfilling Rebecca's Golden Shower/Scat/S&M fantasies whilst fingering Juddy's ass as he sips tea and reads the Fin review, there is always a roll for a dumb fuck like that!

Explain the bold though, someone rooted Ratten's missus?

na, Gibbs's GF i think....might be bullshit but i remember hearing something about it.
Also heard Jennie likes to get Setantas little helpers around, dress em in Overalls and play Rich widowed Alabama Plantation owner from the 1930's! Mitch plays the retaareded Plantation owners son who's job is to whip the slaves if they don't please Momma enough!
It is quite sick and disturbing the things that go on at that club! Oh and don't doubt for a second she isn't running that club....and has been since well before Pratt died.

Almost Rick James quality Mikey. Almost;)
I bet that pipe got a work out last night:D
But to your post about us.
If we do draw Hawthorn then it will at Subi, which is a massive plus for us. Last night we showed glimpss of our early season form and, like I said before, just needed some polish on our goal kicking and link up play. Some of our stoppage work was beautiful, but just not consistenty enough. We also seemed to run out of legs in the last quarter which is understandable when you have a heap of kids and a fair few returning from injury.
Another week on the track for our returning players and we should be cherry ripe.
Tarrant won't play next weekend regardless. But then neither will Hodge so both teams are missing a key player. But I reckon that we can cover Taz better than the Hawks can cover Hodge.
I would be less confident of beating Hawthorn over, Sydney or the scum. But I never said that we couldn't beat them. As a matter of fact I reckon that we will/would.:thumbsu:
Tarrant is not guaranteed of leaving. But it doesn't look good I agree. But with Pavlich going on the vets list next season, we have a shit load more room in the cap and, I believe, can/have offered him a very, very sweet 2 yr deal.
Yet another case of a guy pandering to the wishes of his bitch!!

Pretty sure its Hawks V Freo in Subi
I think Hodge will play (unless they think the plane trip will stuff him up)
Wont be as easy as in Tassie especially after the Pies today
and "if" they do win they will have to front up to Saints or Cats the following week
Tough

No pipes for me mate, I don't do that type of thing!!!! And I'm just naturally fucked in the head and funny and weird and smacking my cock like it is a lifeless snake!! ;)
Re the bold bit, doesn't she know where the airport is?
I'd fuck her off and start hitting the untapped dockers supporters who've had very little to be star struck about over the last 15 years but now have a few candidates, Taz being right at the top of footy groupies lists :thumbsu:
Wonder what would happen if a coach said we have got 34 injuries this week, it's amazing, most of the list has severe soreness and I'm sorry but we can not field a team for the rd 22 Tassie game, so we forfeit!
What could they do? If you stuck to your guns and said they are all too sore to play, what could they realistically do?
They should have done that and had the week off! :thumbsu:
