Jesus, I go watch a movie, then come back and sus out BigFooty and hear that Brock McLean is going to Carlton, Aaron Davey has apparently walked out on the club, Burgoyne wants to go to the Hawks (Port apparently won't accept pick #9 on its own and are reportedly chasing Lewis) and the Doggies are set to sign Barry Hall.

F/S rule should go out too, only if we can stop the whole losing for the draft pick cause.
F/S rule should stay, NO MATTER WHAT. It's mere coincidence that Geelong appear to have benefited more from this rule that any other current team. Theoretically, all clubs have the same opportunity for their past or current players to father sons. Whether these sons have footballing ability comes down to genetics, and a wee bit of luck.
It's good though, that a player good enough to make it past a hundred games should receive the added honour of his name possibly continuing at the club through their son.
And if the player instead has a daughter who is sufficiently enhanced with talent, she should present herself with applicable n00dz before a TLC panel.
Or get the fuck out.

On an unrelated note I dunno HOW the piggies are gonna be able to breath-test everyone leaving the 'G Satdee evening. 90,000 people?
I'm gonna be setting up a random breast-test booth in the car park, though. Random women between the ages of 18 and 40 will have their breasts squeezed and checked for firmness, and the size of their nipples will be logged.

Saints had some amazing chances, and fucked them up. I feel sorry for my old man who would be suffering like you boys Hugh, but there's no way known Geelong aren't worthy winners. Sure we had some things go our way, but it wasn't all one way. The Milburn double goal was farcical. Never seen one before for talking back to the goal ump. I bet it has happened plenty of times and never been paid till now. Baker also put the most deliberate ball out of bounds as well in our forward line and wasn't pinged. That was a horrible decision. There were a few more negligible ones as well, just like some of the ones Geelong got that are being disputed.
Anyway, I know what it's like to lose and lucky enough to win as well. I'm sure the Saints will be burning like Geelong were to win it next year.

Yeah there was piss poor umpiring both ways Hoffy. Even Sooz would have seen that Hawkins poster, disgraceful goal umpiring from those fuckwits, but the Milburn one kind of evened it up.
At the end of the day we can't blame the umps, we had enough opportunities to win it. You Catters just took your opps better than us and so took the chocolates. As I've said elsewhere though, would much rather lose to you blokes than Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon etc. Still doesn't mean it doesn't hurt like fuck.

It's a fucking rotten feeling. I was pretty young when the Cats lost their early ones, but last year was pretty gutting. Old enough to really take it in. If we hadn't won 07 I may have topped myself.
The Hawkins poster is inexcusable. Everything else is somewhat open to debate, but that should never have been missed. I bet the goal umpire has had a few sleepless nights since. As you say, if Sooz was there none of this would have happened.
I know it's clichéd, but neither side deserved to lose that.
Both sides have some interesting times ahead. Not sure Geelong will be able to maintain the hunger again. I almost feel content with what we have over the 3 year stretch. I hope the players don't but you can see how the flame could extinguish after something like this...plus we're gonna have cap issues and need players to take cuts again to stay together. Gold Coast will be coming knocking hard for Gaz and Selwood for 2011. Can't fathom losing either, but it's a possibility and the nature of the beast.
Saints? Well you have to get rid of those Clarke boys and one of King or Gardiner. McEvoy will have to develop next year. Milne is such a fucking horrible big game player. Surely he's on thin ice. Schneider and Dempster must be worried as well. Not sure where there contracts are at, but there's certainly a bit of deadwood. Especially the Clarkes. Apart from that the burning desire of redemption will ensure your boys are right up there again.
If you like you can have Mark Blake. Free of charge. :thumbsu:

Fair summary mate.
It was our small forwards that let us down. Milne and Schneider will be under the pump big time for next year after their ordinary finals performance. Playing Raph Clarke/Dawson ahead of Hudghton was a massive mistake too, cost us two goals at least.
Not sure we're desperate enough to take Blake yet, Kingy and Gardy will hopefully be good enough for another year and we also have young McEvoy and Stanley (won the GF sprint) waiting in the wings.
Either way both Geelong and St Kilda won a lot of respect that day for their efforts. I think both sets of supporters know it too.:thumbsu:

Gen X, so assured of their own superiority, they don't even look at the facts before slagging off Gen-Y :)
Gen X are the all time biggest sellout generation. At least Gen Y were up front about being shallow, self absorbed, shit eating, pieces of crap. But Gen X tried to pretend they were all angsty and anti-capitalist etc etc until it came time to start their own little property empires. Or a dotcom bubble.

Yeah i can't understand it either dmc, taking on a heap of discards at once generally doesn't end well.
Ken Judge did the best job of spud loading in 2000 tho, when he traded away most of our draft picks in 1 year for
Michael Collica
Greg Harding
Mark Merenda
Michael Prior
David Sierakowski
Richie Taylor
And with the draft picks left took
Andrew McDougall at 5
Jeremy Humm at 36
Trent Carroll at 45
and Troy Wilson in the PSD
Inspired.
Fuck knows how we made a grand final 5 years later. Woosh is a magician i guess.

Lets not forget though in defence of Vossy - fairly certain he was appointed after trade week last year, and as such had very minimal say over the shape of his list, and is probably making up for it this year. Couldn't wait to get rid of Dalziell it seems. Think Hooper might be in the same boat.

Hopefully he's got a spot on the wall reserved for it.

pfft spoon... we only lost 1 or 2 matches at home last year
we play 11 games at home, we should win half of them at least.. so that's a minimum of 5 games plus hopefully a couple of wins against our bitch teams away should be enough to avoid the spoon
fucked if i wanna see my fellow supporters cheering to come last

Lots of bookies are too then. 4.50 favourites.
Come to think of it....Pies at 1.50 to make the 8 seems like easy money

Melbourne are also the raging favourite on handicap betting for the ladder.
We coudl easily have won 8-9 last year but were blatantly throwing games (which is deplorable but hey, that's the system), and are getting better for next season, not worse.
Its less likely for interstate teams to finish last though, simply becasue of the home ground advantage. My money is on Richmond for this season. And as a roughie, Essendon, because they've lost so many veteran players.

We've also lost McPhee, so there's at least half a dozen turnovers the oppostion won't be getting each game, so it kinda balances out.
Hille comes back, we have the best ruck duo in the comp :thumbsu: . Lloyd and Lucas have been mere shadows in the last year or two, so I don't think them going will be as massive as some may think. I think your mob will be closer to the bottom than us, but neither will get the spoon.
Tiges and Failmantle to battle it out, methinks
I don't think you will finish bottom but you are shithouse and a rabble.
This, instead of "Live The Creed", should have been last year's theme...

What's that actually mean mate....not aware of it
I think it'll be Dee's or Tiges...North are on the same line of betting as the Tiges but that seems pretty unrealistic. I don't think they'll do better next year but i can't see them spooning it.
Essendon won't make the 8, but can't see them finishing bottom either. Freo to finish about 12-13. They're bad, they aren't the worst tho

Handicap betting means every team starts with a certain amount of wins at round 1. Melbourne start with 10, St Kilda with 0. So over 22 rounds if Melbourne wins 10 games they finish on 20, meaning St Kilda would need to win 21 out of 22 to finish higher than Melbourne.
All up, it basically means the odds are in favour of Melbourne winning around 8 or 9 games giving them a total of 18 or 19 for the year.

I like this.
Reckon Eagles will definitely make the 8 then top 4 in 2011. Most under-rated list in the competition. Got the best group of youngters in the afl.

I think following this years draft I'd say Melbourne has better young talent, Eagles a close second. But these kinds of arguments are stupid anyway really, it will be more about how the two teams develop their youngsters that counts, and the Eagles have a much better recent development history than Melbourne... though since Stynes came on board Melbourne's professionalism has really gone skywards.
Eagles need to learn to win on the road again though.
