I have spent alot of time in Katherine, one side of my family are NT. There IS plently of chances. Most just find it easier to do whats the done thing. A minority get out, but unfortunently there just that, the minority. I'm not just talking about people in communities either. There is the commish housing in Darwin that is dreadful.

If me and my mate can move out working at Target and Maccas respectivly and live in Broadbeach. The unit were looking at isnt flash but it is enough. There is no reason one can't break the cycle. It's just the easier and done thing to not give a rats clacker. I agree, children need to be taken from these communities because the sooner they are no longer the better.

I just hate the way all the other history of WW2 gets glossed over in favour of remembering the boring as holocaust. It should have been a post script to WW2, instead, its the main focus of anyone discussing WW2.

I've been reading this biography of Khrushchev lately, and it relates about how he was in charge of the Ukraine before the war, and during one of the famines there is a story reported of an old woman who was selling meat to the villagers, but the villagers discovered that she was kidnapping the kiddies, slicing and dicing them and then selling the said diced and sliced bits to the villagers. Villagers were a bit put out so they killed the old woman and her husband. Didn't say if they ate her or not. Another story from a different famine related how a woman was talking to the local communazi dude in her kitchen whilst chopping up her daughter on the table for the pot. She apparently had already eaten the son. Not sure what the communazi dude did about apart from reporting it. Wasn't a terribly good place to be, the Ukraine in the 30s.
